Mrs. Gartin was my nursing advisor at Iowa Wesleyan in the late 1970's. She was always very kind and considerate. I will never forget her.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of the amazing Connie Gartin! Mrs Gartin taught me Community Health Nursing in the late 1980's in the Iowa Wesleyan Nursing Program. She was a very interesting lecturer and sparked my interest in Community Health Nursing such that I went on to get my masters in that area of nursing at the University of Iowa and later a PhD. I now serve as the Chair of Nursing at Iowa Wesleyan University and I aspire to be the type of reflective educator your mother was. I recall the wonderful clinical opportunities she set up for us in home care and school nursing in Burlington. Your mom was a fantastic listener and so very kind to all. I am unable to attend the funeral because I am in Omaha this weekend. Lisa Kongable will be there and she has a picture of myself and your mom taken in July 2000. I came down to show off our baby son who had just gotten home from Korea and I recall fondly how wonderful your mom was to visit with that day. All my Love! Mary Carman-Tobin

Tim and Marc, Recalling what a loving, concerned mother Connie was. She was always so supportive of the guidance and leadership of the teacher and I so appreciated that. You two were the recipients of her love and care and I am quite sure she was very proud of both of you and the men of God that you have become.
