Sanjuana Juanita TannerSanjuana “Juanita” Tanner, 73, of New London passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, in the emergency room at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Juanita was born on April 14, 1949, in Edinburg, Texas, the daughter of Doroteo and Angelita (Vega) Villarreal. Juanita was proud of her heritage, as she was raised in a migrant family working the fields. When she moved to Iowa she became the part of Reaves and Illene Holbrook family. She worked at Louis Rich Foods in West Liberty as a line leader for over 30 years. Juanita was united in marriage to Joe Tanner on May 12, 1990, at Tipton, Iowa. She was devoted to helping others and she loved all kids. Over the years she touched many lives with her love. Juanita enjoyed cooking, dancing, music, camping, boating but most of all her grandchildren. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She is survived by her husband, Joe of New London, her daughters, Norma Lewis of Johnston and Janie (Tony) Mendez of Ft. Madison, her 4 grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, Tony (Connie) Villarreal, Ben (Tammy) Villarreal, Delia Villarreal, Tammy (John) Obe, Cynthia Neal, Belinda Holbrook, Thomas (Kathy) Holbrook, Chris (Rosa) Holbrook, Nick Holbrook, Missy Holbrook, Amy (Bob) Holbrook-Jensen, Millie (Whitey) Feldman. Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Jose, Martin, Demetria, Urbana, Sandra, Jessie, Norma, Chello, Marty, Bo, Paul, Chuck and John. Friends may call after noon on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 3 to 6 p.m. that afternoon. A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established in her memory. |
