Myrna Tink ParrottMyrna “Tink” Parrott, 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant. Tink was born on June 12, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of Russell Scott and Eleanor Louise (Breuer) Rawlings. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1967, and went on to Burlington Beauty Academy. While in high school she worked at the Princess Café. Tink was united in marriage to John L. Parrott on May 31, 1974. They lived in Solon before moving to Mt. Pleasant, where they owned and operated the Chansky Drug Store. She worked for the Cedar Falls Postal Service, Walgreen Drug Store in Iowa City and retired from the University of Iowa Eye Clinic. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, watching the races at Hawkeye Downs, traveling and was known for hosting wonderful get togethers. Tink adored her children, her nieces and nephews. Her favorite pastime was following all of their activities. She was the most giving, loving, strongest woman. She would do anything for anyone, regardless of the situation with a smile on her face. Tink is survived by her husband, John, of Mt. Pleasant, her son, Derek Parrott, her daughter, Missy (Rodney) Afshari, one grandson, Ethan Parrott, a stepdaughter, Amy Reimer, three step granddaughters, Emily, Allison and Katelyn, two brothers, John (Connie) Rheinshmidt, Lee (Marthe) Rheinshmidt and four sisters, Bobbi (Dan) Bruggemeyer, Becky (Dale) Calhoun, Scotti (Jeff) Nesbitt, Dell (Ken) Madole along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Russell Rawlings and Art Rawlings, five sisters, Mike Askew, Lucritia Reed, Patty Stalder, Rosie Dopler and Kay Farmer. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. that evening. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held on April 22, 2023 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Lockridge Baptist Church in her memory. |
